I have a question about library fines.
Answer
Most items in the RCC & JCLS libraries do not accrue overdue fines, and eligible items will automatically renew two times. You can return or renew regular overdue items at any RCC or JCLS branch and renew most items by logging in to your library account. You cannot renew items on hold for another patron.
Reserve items--including most textbooks and electronics--DO accrue fines, sometimes hourly. Please renew or return these items to an RCC Library branch by or before the time they are due. Your due date may be time-specific; please call the library if you are unsure. You cannot renew reserve items on hold for another patron.
Wondering if you have a fine? Log in to your library account via the library catalog to check. Fines will not appear on your library account until the item is returned or marked as lost.
Did you receive a billing notice? Items not returned by 21 days after their due date will be considered lost and an automated billing notice for a replacement fee is sent. The fee will be automatically waived if the item is returned by the date on the notice. In some cases you may have returned the item in the time between when the notice was generated and it was received. You can verify the item was checked in and the replacement fee removed by logging in to your library account or contacting the library.
Did your fee go to collections? Lost items not returned by the date on the billing notice are sent to an outside collection agency. Returning the item will still allow us to waive the replacement fee but a collection fee may remain.
We want you to be able to use the library!
Don't let fear or finances keep you from using our services; please let us know if an item is lost or damaged or if you are struggling with library fines. Our priority is to have library materials returned so others can use them. We won't judge, promise.
